Setting Fence Posts - Friday
Howdie folks! It's been a couple of days since my last post..so much for my plans to post everyday! We've been very busy, so I'm backtracking to Friday, and then I'll continue on from there. Everything will be in reverse, but oh well!
So, Friday was the "setting fence post" day. As soon as we got off work, Rickey arrived to help out, and he, Darcy and I began the process. First levelling the post, then strapping it into place, then mixing many wheelbarrows full of cement to fill it. Each hole took 3 wheelbarrows on average..lots of work! Man those things were heavy! It was slow going, and after a bit Cleve and Michelle drove by. Cleve yells out, "Do ya want some help?"...betcha he's sorry he asked that question. LOL!! So, Cleve came over at about 5:00, just as Rickey was heading home for supper and Darcy and I made a run for some beer. (We had to keep our worker bees happy!). Once we got in the groove, things went much better! Darcy and Mitch started levelling the posts and putting them in, while Cleve, Rickey and I mixed the cement and dumped it in the holes. We worked straight out and had it all finished by 8:30 pm. We were impressed that there was still daylight left! Here's some pics..
This picture was actually taken on Saturday morning, just a shot of what things looked like before we started on the fence...
After all of our hard work, we came in to get cleaned up and relax. Cleve headed home early because he had to work the next morning. A bit later, Aaron and Jana both arrived and were in the mood to play some tunes. Rickey spent the night here, no way he could drive home..and Darcy hit the hay early (he was on call). Unfortunately he ended up being called in to work twice that night, so he would have been better off staying awake with the rest of us loons. Anyway, despite being totally exhausted and sore, we managed to stay up till 2:00am. Not too bad! We didn't want it to be too late since we planned on waking up very early to start on the best part, the fence!
So, that's it for Friday's events. I'll post Saturday's fence building in a bit! Stay tuned!

Looks like things are progressing nicely! (That's one big fence.)
Keep up the good work,
Brian
