Some "Before" Pictures
This is a view of our front porch, which we'll be saying "bye-bye" to very shortly. It's so old now, starting to sink in the ground. We'll be tearing it right off and replacing it with a new step, (not as large), and some nice landscaping along the front. I can't wait, it's such an eyesore right now.
Here's a view of the backyard, with the old fence still intact. Notice the side of the house, very plain! There will soon be a deck there, and the window closest to where I'm standing (the kitchen window), is going to become a door leading out onto the deck.
Here's a view of the walkway into the backyard, we are building a gate attached from the house to the shed. That way the whole yard will be completely enclosed, we get privacy and our dogs get full run of the backyard.
Another view of the yard, with that old ugly fence! UGH!
Darcy decided to cut down one of the trees, it was in the way of where we want the fence to go. You can see Darcy in the middle of the branches...
Here's the tree much later on.....very interesting huh? LOL
Tonight Darcy brought a torch home and cut down the old metal fence. Here's a view from the street. I'm so glad it's gone! That huge pile of sand was dropped off today. It's gonna be used for mixing concrete. Tonight, after the fence was tore down, Darcy, Kim and I walked around the yard with a measuring tape and bright orange spray paint. Darcy marked the spots where he and Scott will dig the fence post holes tomorrow night. Friday we'll set the posts in concrete, and Saturday will be deck-building day! Can't wait! Stay tuned ...

I can't wait to see the changes!! It'll be nice to be able to use the back yard without feeling like an animal in a zoo. Next the pool!!!

The door through the kitchen onto the new deck is a great idea. That'll really open 'er up!
Have fun,
Brian

An animal in a zoo is a great way to put it! You should have seen the people driving by gawking last night, I'm surprised there wasn't an accident! I'll keep posting pictures of the changes, but you'll get to see it for yourself in a couple of months! :)
There won't be a pool this year, maybe one of those littler ones next summmer. We'll have to see!
The kitchen door onto the deck was Darcy's idea, I think it'll be great! We can just let the dogs out that way, no more worries about them running onto the road. It's gonna be lots of work, but it'll be fun I'm sure! Later,
Liss

Hey Liss,
Wow, those are some great ideas. You guys might as well take all the trees down, it'll give you a lot more room.
I can't wait to see the changes, what a difference this will make.

The other two trees in the backyard are right in the corner, not in the way at all. I like them, plus I really like the shade, so we'll be keeping them for sure! I'll be posting some more pics soon, tonight is fence post digging night. Poor Darcy and Scott!

Matt, Darcy told me that you probably meant the spruce tree in the middle of the yard..I wasn't even thinking about that one! I LOVE that tree...it's the one I decorate with lights at Christmas. No way is that one coming down, it looks so nice when it's all lit up. You haven't been home for a couple of Christmases now, so this year you'll see what I mean.
